The argan tree grows exclusively in the southwestern region of Morocco. Standing at 5-10m in height, it is incredibly resistant and able to thrive in conditions of extreme heat, drought and poor, arid soils. Argan oil, obtained from the seeds of the argan tree, has been produced since time immemorial in an artisanal manner in southern Morocco and is used in lamps to produce light and by Berber women for its dietary, medicinal and cosmetic virtues.
